Learn the elements of design, the visual keys to compose and design works of art. Each day a design concept will be covered and a small work completed in either painting or collage. Whether working realistically or non-objectively, proportion, scale, unity, variety, rhythm, repetition, balance and emphasis greatly improve our ability to execute a work of art that conveys the artist's intended message. How we place our images on a page is more than graphic and pleasing to the eye -- it is an important key to the psychology of a painting. This class is suitable for the beginning student wishing to learn design concepts as well as the more experienced artist seeking to strengthen their understanding of composition. Two weeks prior to the first class, please contact the Jung Center for a supply list.
